This is the best conference I've been to. Great information and good contacts.
Robert Skopeck, NATO E-3A Component
Good balance. High level as well as soldier level perspectives and the technical, scientific, operational, policy & human factors aspects were all well covered. Top quality event, invaluable for networking as well as gathering knowledge and insight.

Why should I attend Combat Identification Europe?

Combat Identification Europe is the continent's only dedicated blue force tracking event. Now in our 6th year, this remains the only venue where the reduction of fratricide and non-combatant casualties is treated as the number one priority.

Asymmetric warfare has made the challenges of Combat Identification greater than ever. On the battlefield, a clear definition between insurgent and local populations won't always be available. Keeping track of forces in built up areas and engaging the enemy up close requires precision like never before. Making critical decisions in calling in fire support and delivering effects demands reliable situational awareness and having the right tactics and doctrine to use that information in the right way.

Key topics at Combat Identification Europe will include:

Feedback and results from Exercise Bold Quest and Exercise Bold Quest Plus
Colonel Lou Durkac (Ret'd), US Joint Forces Command

Utilising existing technologies to aid Combat Identication: A British Army perspective
Colonel Crispian Beattie, Commander, Command Control and Development Centre, Land Warfare Centre, British Army

Detailed requirements, capabilities forecasts and the roles of A-10 Thunderbolt, AC-130 Spectre and Joint Surveillance and Target Attack (JSTARS)
Major Herb Maraman, Airborne Intelligence Officer, 116th Control Wing, US Air Force

Current demands on combat identification systems and making the case for prioritising research and investment
David Dean, Land Battlespace Systems Department, DSTL

Human factors in combat identification
Dr Charles Kirke, Lecturer, Human Factors Integration, Cranfield University
